TUITION AND FEES
Tuition is based on the Academy year and is due IN FULL at the time of registration. If this is not possible, monthly installments may be arranged. Installment payments are due the very first of each month. No bills are sent.
A $35 non-refundable registration fee AND the first month’s tuition (if paying by installments) are due at the time of registration. Tuition may be paid by credit card check, cash or money order. If paying by cash – please use exact change! Always include the student’s full name with any payment.
There is a $40 fee for returned checks. If a check is returned, tuition -- along with Returned Check Fee -- must be paid by credit card, cash or money order.
The Academy does not pro-rate for missed classes. There are no refunds.
Unlike many dance schools, Dance Florida Academy spares Students and Parents/Guardians the costly expense of requiring them to purchase their own costumes for performances. However, there is a non-refundable performance fee for all participating students to help offset various costs.
- Report of Progress Performance Fee: $30 - Due February 1, 2010.
- End-of-Year Spring Show Performance Fee: $75 - Due February 1, 2010.
IMPORTANT: Students may not be allowed to participate in Reports of progress or End-of- the-Year Production if tuition is not paid-in-full by the first of May -- even if the non-refundable performance fees were paid.
PROPER CLASS ATTIRE
PRE BALLET
- Girls: Pink Ballet Shoes, Pink Tights, Simple/Plain Pink Leotard
- Boys: White Ballet Shoes, White Socks, Black Shorts, Plain T-Shirt (Any style)
LEVELS I - VI
- Girls: Pink Ballet Shoes, Pink Tights, Black Leotard (Any style)
- Boys: White Ballet Shoes, White Socks, Plain T-Shirt (any color), Proper Dance Belt
Attire for Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop are different from ballet. The teacher of each class will set those rules.
· All students are to be properly dressed for class.
· Girls should have their hair up in buns before class. It is a good idea to pack extra hair pins, nets and hairspray. These items are easily found in drug stores and beauty supply shops.
· Warmers, skirts, etc. are not allowed in class.
· We recommend not wearing jewelry in class.
· Clothing should be neat and clean.
· Students in ALL levels (no matter their age and size) are to enter and leave the building in a COMPLETE cover- up including street shoes.
POLICIES AND REGULATIONS – IN GENERAL
All students are taught with the highest respect and regard. Everyone using the building, parents/guardians, students and their entire families are required to be familiar with and follow Dance Florida Academy’s Policies and Etiquette.
· If a student is going to be absent, please call one hour before class time.
· Students are required to attend all scheduled classes, rehearsals and costume fittings unless authorized ahead of time.
· Students (no matter the level) are to be picked up, no later than 15 minutes after their last class.
· Parents/Guardians, who are continually late picking up their children, may be charged an extra fee, as we must have someone to watch over them.
· The use of cell phones, ipods, laptops and/or cameras is not allowed in the classrooms, rehearsals or performances.
· Everyone is to use the Student Entrance in the parking lot – not the Fern Street entrance. The Fern Street entrance is locked at a designated time.
· Though students are not allowed to eat in classrooms, water bottles are allowed.
· Students only are allowed access to the dressing rooms, restrooms, waiting areas and classroom.
· Parents/Guardians are not allowed upstairs and/or in classrooms unless pre-arranged.
· Please make arrangements with your student’s teacher and the Academy Office to observe class.
· Missed classes may be made up in the same level at another time (if available) or in a lower level.
· Students cannot receive messages unless it is an emergency.
· If there is an individual NOT allowed to pick up a child, please inform the Academy Office.
· Students should only change on the dressing rooms.
· Student’s images may be used in various promotional materials.
· For many reasons, the unauthorized posting of any type of video or picture (including classes, rehearsals at Dance Florida Academy or any rehearsal/performance of Dance Florida Academy) on any website or webpage regarding or relating to Dance Florida Academy is strictly forbidden.
· We respectfully ask that parents/guardians wishing to speak to a teacher to please make an appointment.
· Smoking is not allowed in the building or near the door of the Student Entrance. Smoking Areas: Table under fire escape, Table on West side of building. Please use ashtrays.
POLICIES AND ETIQUETTE - IN THE BUILDING
· For parent/guardian comfort, waiting areas are outside under the canopy or under the trees on the West side of the building, inside by the back stairway or next to the Academy office. We respectfully ask to keep the hallways clear and quiet at all times.
· For everyone’s safety and comfort, no running or loud noises inside the building.
POLICIES AND ETIQUETTE - PARKING LOT
· Please remember that there are children coming in and out of the building. The speed limit in the parking lot is 5 miles per hour. The parking lot is always congested during class release times.
· Be aware of cars leaving and entering the parking lot. Also, be very careful of pedestrians on the sidewalk and traffic when pulling out on to Fern Street.
· Park in designated areas only. On certain days, it may be necessary to use the metered parking on Fern Street.
· The parking lot is closed and locked at the end of the last class.
EMAIL AND SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES
Dance Florida Academy extensively uses the Internet and email to send notifications to families, as well as, individual students.
· Parents/guardians AND students are to submit their HOME email address(es). Parents/guardians may also use their business email address, in addition.
· Dance Florida Academy also requests student’s MySpace AND Facebook address(es).
EXTRA(s) FOR UPPER LEVEL STUDENTS
· Students in Levels V & VI have the privilege of using the upstairs dressing rooms, restrooms and lounge.
· Please do not leave anything of value or food in lockers. It is the students’ responsibility to keep these areas clean and quiet – at all times.
Dance Florida Academy is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
SUGGESTIONS:
- Most students have the same color shoes, tights and leotards, it is VERY important to put their name in them.
- If it’s valuable, simply do not bring it in to the building or theatre.
Dance Florida Academy is not responsible for vehicles or items left in vehicles.
Dance Florida Academy is not responsible for students if they leave the property whether at the end of the day or between classes/rehearsals.
